"THE BLUES HAD A BABY AND THEY NAMED IT ROCK & ROLL" 9:00 AM
Honoring the contribution of Blues to Rock & Roll by playing a Blues original and then following it with a Rock & Roll cover version of the same song.
You might hear Sonny Boy Williamson and then Led Zeppelin or Lightning Hopkins and then Hot Tuna or John Lee Hooker and then the Animals. The combinations are endless.
This is a feature Bonnie has been doing on the radio for over 20 years. It began in 1988 when she hosted "House Party Blues" on Stockton State College's station, WLFR, Lake Fred Radio and continued into her "Monday Morning Blues" on the Atlantic City Rock & Roll station, WMID where she hosted the mid-day shift in the early 1990's.
"YOGA ON AIR" Tying Together the Spirit of Yoga with the Spirit of Rock & Roll 9:30 AM
As a Yoga Teacher and Rock & Roll DJ for over 20 years, Bonnie likes to pull the two worlds together in this weekly feature. Each week she picks a Rock & Roll song and reads some of the lyrics to her listeners. She then relates how those lyrics highlight some of the concepts of Yoga and other cultural philosophies that teach us to live from the heart.
The songs help us reinforce what we often already know: Life is what you make it. So by watching the mind and making sure it reinforces the positive aspects of our lives we can live more fully and completely.
